The Road Forward

Through careful and creative planning, we have designed an in-person, child-safe, and learning-strong reopening plan for the 2020 - 2021 school year at Sundance.

Although we are still facing a high level of uncertainty regarding the future’s path due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are confident that the Sundance Community will continue to stand strong as we move forward with plans to provide each and every student with an outstanding education as we embrace our new normal. In the event that a shift to distance-learning is mandated by Governor Murphy at any point, we will be prepared to offer a robust homestay curriculum. Presently, our goal is to welcome our students and teachers back to campus in the safest way possible, while meeting the needs of our families.

On June 29th, Governor Murphy released to schools a set of statewide health and safety standards established by the New Jersey Department of Education. This comprehensive document, “The Road Back - Restart and Recovery Plan for Education” which includes the CDC’s Considerations for Operating Schools, has been used as our primary resource for reopening planning.  Additionally, we are working closely with The State of New Jersey, Department of Children and Families, and Office of Licensing (OOL) to meet all health and safety standards and requirements for Somerset County Child Care Centers.

Thank you for your continued support, patience and understanding as we work toward putting our reopening plans safely into practice. In lieu of our New Parent Meet and Greet and Orientations, we are planning to schedule virtual meetings for each class during the week of September 6th. A Zoom invitation will be forthcoming. Please be on the lookout for additional email updates and mailings in the upcoming weeks.  You may rest assured that although the “new” Sundance will seem slightly unfamiliar at first, our steadfast commitment to ignite within the hearts and minds of our students a passion to make the world a better place while inspiring them to be lifelong learners is stronger than ever. We are looking forward to traveling with you on The Road Back to Sundance!  Until then, please take care, be well, and keep on the sunny-side!

-The Sundance Administration

In addition to communicating through ClassDojo, Seesaw, email, telephone, and our Homestay packets, we are now prepared to ZOOM into next level distance learning! We believe that daily live and engaging learning between our students and teachers is essential to their general well-being. Connecting students and teachers via ZOOM will help our Sundance family feel and stay connected.

Using ZOOM is super easy! in just a few clicks you and our students will feel like they're right back in their classroom with their teachers! You will find more information regarding ZOOM, ClassDojo, and GoogleClassroom below. Please email sundance@thesundanceschool.com if you have any further questions!

For The Sake of the Children

The letter below, written by a school psychology specialist, speaks beautifully to what we all know is important. It helps to emphasize the importance of keeping the emotional health and well-being of our precious children in the very forefront of our approach during this challenging time.
