Theatre Summer Camp Fees and Application Sundance Theatre Camp is the perfect place for young aspiring performing artists, ages 6 to 13, to come and hone their skills. Skilled instructors, bi-weekly performances, and guest artists ensure that the summer will be an amazing one. Camp runs Session I June 7th - June 18th and Session II July 26th - Aug 6th. Each section is composed of a two week performance camp, ending with a live stage performance, and a one week theatre workshop, during which guest artists focus on skills such as set design, stage make-up and theatre history. Students may enroll in any combination of the camps and workshops. Each day, the campers will work at their own pace in a nurturing, supportive environment, all while embracing and celebrating their individual talents. The end production will be specifically designed to help children understand the importance of teamwork and being part of their cast community.
Performance Camp - Morning Classes
Dance Technique - The children participate in technique classes in ballet, jazz and contemporary dance. The areas we focus on are proper alignment, dance terminology and working towards a personal best.
Acting - Actors and actresses hone their dramatic skills through participation in theatre games, improvisation and speech techniques. The use of props and costumes during scene work help the campers deepen their acting skills.
Voice - Individual attention is given to each camper as they gain confidence in their singing. Proper breathing and posture is emphasized. Practice on solos and choral singing help the children to prepare to perform before an audience.
Musical Theatre/Dance - Here the children explore the performance element of musical theatre. Children work on learning choreographed dances, while singing and acting through a song.
Performance Camp - Afternoon Every afternoon is reserved for stage rehearsals and time to prepare for all areas of each bi-weekly production.
Guest artists come for one week periods to focus on skills such as set design, stage make-up, and theatre history. These workshops help to broaden the knowledge of a young performing artist to compliment his or her on-stage abilities.
